Post subject: Tochigi Tokei Co LTD Japan
Hello, my name is Steve. I have a mantle clock with ''Tochigi Tokei Co LTD Japan'' printed on the outside of the movement case. It is a quartz movement. We have had this clock for at least 10 years. This clock is supposed to have a "Westminster chime" function also. My issue is with the chime. I have never heard this clock chime and have no idea how to set it up to see if it will chime. Any information will be much appreciated. Do not hesitate in requesting any other info that you may need. Email address is slgrimesjr@hotmail.com.
Thanks, Steve

I would check to see if the clock movement has a speaker for the chime sound to verify it is a chiming clock. Maybe it has a switch to turn the chime off?

Yes - you will want to check on the backside of the movement to see if there is a switch or two which would involve the chime aspect of the movement. It is also a good idea to ensure that the clock is connected to some type of speaker device. Some of the chiming quartz movements from the Orient are poorly soldered to the speaker. If one wire happens to become disconnected, the chime would be inaudible.
